0010: Cloudflare Tunnel for sharing
Status: accepted
Context
Section titled “Context”Sharing a site needs a public HTTPS address without opening ports, ideally free and without an account for quick use.
Decision
Section titled “Decision”Use cloudflared: quick tunnels (trycloudflare.com, no account) by default, and a named tunnel per computer through the Cloudflare API for your own domain. Access rules (password, IP allowlist) are enforced by DevKit’s share listener.
Consequences
Section titled “Consequences”Free and reliable. Quick tunnels have Cloudflare’s limits (about 200 concurrent requests, no server-sent events). Own-domain sharing needs a Cloudflare account and API token.
